Getting started with credential.studio
Learn what credential.studio does, what you will complete in your first session, and the recommended setup order from account creation to test printing.
Understand credential.studio
credential.studio manages the full lifecycle of your event credentials in one place so you do not juggle spreadsheets, photo folders, and separate badge tools. Use it to collect attendees, control access, handle photos, and print credentials for concerts, conferences, and other live events.
What you will set up
By the end of this guide, you will have:
- A credential.studio account and access to the dashboard
- Your first event created in the dashboard
- A small set of attendees added for that event
- A basic credential design with names, roles, and photos
- Printed or downloaded test credentials you can try at your venue
Prerequisites
Confirm these basics before you start to avoid setup interruptions.
- Access to a modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox)
- An email address you can open during signup
- Basic details for an upcoming or sample event (event name, dates, location)
- Optional but helpful: a few attendee names and photos for testing
Main workflow: from account to printed credential
Follow these steps in order for the smoothest first setup. Each step keeps you in the dashboard and focuses on a single task.
Create your credential.studio account
Go to the signup page at https://credential.studio/signup. Enter your name, work email, and a secure password, then submit the form to create your account.
Check your inbox for a verification email and click the link to confirm your account. After verification, sign in from the browser page that appears.
Sign in and open the dashboard
Open https://credential.studio/login and sign in with the email and password you used during signup.
After you sign in successfully, the dashboard appears with an overview of your events and recent activity. For a slower, click-by-click walkthrough, use the Quickstart guide.
Create your first event
From the dashboard, select the option to create a new event. Give the event a clear name, set your event dates, and add a location so your team recognizes it later.
Save your event. You should now see it listed on the dashboard as your active event.
Add a small set of attendees
Open the event you just created, then go to the attendees area. Start with a small test group such as your own team or a few sample attendees.
Add them manually one by one, filling in names, roles, and any fields you know you will need on the credential.
Design a basic credential layout
Go to the credential or badge design area for your event. Choose a layout that matches the badge size or printer you use, then add key fields like attendee name, role, and photo.
Drag and arrange elements so text remains readable and there is space for any branding or access markings you need. Save your design as the default credential for the event.
Print or export a test batch
From the event, choose to print or export credentials for your small test group of attendees. Use your usual badge printer or export to PDF, depending on what your venue supports.
Confirm that names, roles, and photos look correct and that credentials align on the page or printer stock. If you see alignment or quality issues, adjust the design and run another small test.
Iterate and prepare for your live event
Once your test looks good, add the rest of your attendees and refine your credential design. You might add access zones, different color coding by role, or more detailed branding.
Run a quick print or export check after any major layout change. When you are satisfied, your event is ready for full credential printing when attendee lists finalize.
If you have created an event, added at least a few attendees, and printed a test credential that looks correct, you are successfully set up for your first event in credential.studio.
Choose your setup style: solo vs team
Use the tabs below to see how to approach setup if you are working alone or with a larger team.
If you are the only person managing credentials for your event, treat your first event as your sandbox and production environment in one.
- Keep all configuration under a single Admin account so you always know where to change settings.
- Run a small test using your own details as an attendee before adding real attendees.
- When you test printing, try both single-credential prints and a small batch to confirm your printer behavior.
If you later add more people to help with data entry or printing, you can safely invite them and adjust permissions without redoing your initial setup.
For events with several staff members handling attendees, photos, and printing, set up your team and permissions early.
- Assign at least one Admin responsible for overall configuration and sensitive actions.
- Invite additional staff as Editors for tasks like adding attendees, managing photos, and running print jobs.
- Use Viewers for roles that only need to look up attendees or confirm credential status without editing data.
The Authentication guide explains roles, invitations, and recommended least-privilege access in more detail. Configure permissions before event week so staff know what they can and cannot change in the dashboard.
Troubleshooting and quick answers
If something does not work as expected during your first setup, start with these common issues.
